U.P elections 2017-Rise of the Pseudo-Nationalism phoenix

The political potboiler of U.P is always into some kind of action that leads to a drastic and dramatic end, full of emotional drama, dialogues and what not to match up to any kind of Bollywood thriller.
Elections
The 2017 U.P state elections were just one of these kinds, where you had all kind of spices available to come out as one of the interesting elections act until now. The upcoming election was supposed to decide the fate of U.P as who will rule U.P and will also be a precursor to the 2019 general elections. We can even have a name to the thriller which could be like “Journey from Gorak+thepla to Imambara” because this thriller could be again seen in 2019 polling elections. With Yogi Adityanath being the CM, it has been clearly observed that the decision was like from the burning ashes of pseudo- secularism rises the phoenix of Hindutva.

It is said and believed that by appointing him the CM, Mr Modi has explained his third disruptive move after surgical strike and demonetization, although both the moves proved helpful in driving away the dirt and filth from the nation. The impact was so immediate and deep that it ramp the roar in U.P, the entire political scenario where the Gorakhnath temple will rule the walls of Imambara. Leading to such progressive decision, a political rift has been created overnight between the people and the political party. A large section of the liberal Indians was into disgust with pseudo-secularism of India’s political line course and sickened with a naked system of minorityism.
Mr Narendra Modi led BJP government to choose a fresh candidate where Indians would be treated regardless of their caste and community fault lines, where the participant would help in the nation-building process. The decision could lead to building development blocks for a new India or even destroying the creational aspect. Mr Modi did not need a cap specifying the skull to project him as secular even though his slogan for “Sabka Saath, sab ka Vikas” is enough. Ignoring all trends, Mr Modi’s personal popularity that had touched the grandeurs during 2014 elections refused to stay calm. And in the 2017 Assembly election, it showed that Modi has still retained that old trust of a large section of Indian political section. After a secular win in Uttar Pradesh where BJP won over 320 of the state’s 403 seats. The state has already started thundering its duties and responsibilities.

It has been less than a week since U.P Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath fulfilled the poll promise and has now instructed the state police to run an anti “Romeo Squad “ to keep a check on men harassing women in public and to decrease the cases of eve-teasing. The activity completely no sooner turned into a quickly morphed exercise of moral policing.  A Special credit is given to our police who told one of the reputed newspapers that they have the ability to identify these Romeos, miscreants, loafers by the looks in their eyes, their face and their gestures. In fact, their “power of perception” is so strong that they even questioned a male standing outside college waiting for his female friend and in fact a mother who was there with her son outside bookstore buying books for her. Our culture cannot accept this and now it is the dear and soul responsibility of the police to get youngsters to the right path. This is what was expected from the government- clear and honest protection of girls from the so-called “Romeo’s” standing outside parks, school’s colleges. And now we should not have any problem with this act.

The winning of BJP was not a knee-jerk reaction that the whole game changed overnight. It is a well-calculated decision, where the grip of the state would be in the hands of BJP for full 15 years. As a man of his tongue and the strong command over his party, Mr Narendra Modi is obviously well versed with his rights to strategize the BJP’s course of action. He won with an exclusive development agenda. So the striking voice behind the appointment of Yogi will echo all over and it is the clearest sign that Mr Modi has something going on in his mind which could lead to either the betterment or destructive led down. Will the race to the winning post be in the hands of the BJP or not?

  1. The sole responsibility of the governments or any political candidate governing us is towards their community- the people. I call it pseudo secularism cuz in reality hindus are as divided as India n Pakistan when it comes to religion. Everyone has played the religion card time n again, for their benefit. I don't know what's in store - hindutuva or a progressive secular state that has better infrastructure, good governance, good education, and the ability to churn out young dynamic professionals that other cities are able to do instead of babuguri, romeogiri or wanna be political enthusiasts. In my opinion religion has no place in a progressive nation cuz that builds barriers not bridges, we need everyone to build a community together n not tear the other, that's not a developing nation, or a state - accepting, acknowledging, and respecting our individual faiths. I'm disillusioned by the growing fanaticism of the so called ' hindus' who constantly feel threatened n need to assert their hindutva as their name badge. Our faith doesn't decide our identity but our ability to achieve progress, change societal norms n rise above divisive thinking does. I hope this UP CM is not divisive in his governance and ignore the minority just for the sake of majority. After all it's all politics and UP being the biggest constituency is certainly a golden egg that is every political candidates dream.

  2. thank you for your valuable comment and as far as pseudo secularism and nationalism is concerned. i very well would like to quote here is the thinking and perspective have some or the other started changing and people have diversified with their thinking but you cannot count the whole into a single number. We cannot actually judge upon the credentials of the new elected candidate. We can just pray and wish that the things which are written doesn't fall true. And Up elections were not that easy to comment and write as more has happened which is not at all even projected by the media.
